Berlin Airlift, 1948-1949

Airlift was the only way to supply West Berlin and its people. The combined efforts of the newly formed USAF working in tandem with those of Great Britain and France, delivered enough fuel, food, and supplies to sustain life in the city for nearly a year. The Soviets lifted the blockade in May 1949, but the Berlin Airlift continued supplying the city through September 1949.
